DESIGN VISION - THE FUTURE OF INDEPENDENT STUDIO PRODUCTION

This one day conference is organised to in conjunction with the Budapest Design Week.

As one of Europe's leading ceramic art centres, we are constantly aware of the interface between independent individual artists and designers and the larger scale factory production capabilities. Hungary has always prided itself on the quality and strength of its training in design and industrial based ceramic production techniques but with the decline in factory production designers are seeking to adapt this training to small scale independent manufacturing.

Marek Cecula (Poland), "In Dust Real", 2005, re-defining industrial porcelain in wood fired kilns.

The advances in new technologies, computer design and rapid prototyping is challenging the traditional boundaries of art, craft and industry. The emphasis on small scale production and design - being taught in traditionally fine art based ceramic departments raises many possibilities - mass production, multiples and bespoke.

This one-day conference aims to create a forum to discuss these issues that as ceramists, designers and artists, we are encountering more and more.

Presenters include - Marek Cecula (PL), Tavs Jorgensen (DK), Zoltan Lubloy (HU), Dr. Szentpéteri Márton.

PARTICIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE IS FREE.
