ABOUT MY RESIDENCY AT ICS

Since my current exploration in clay has to do with the essential
elements of culture, my intention in coming to the ICS as an artist in residence was to make work in a cultural environment I had never been in.

My actual goals were to work slower, soak up as much of the urroundings as I could, and to pay attention to what happened.

The facilities provided more possibilities than I was able to experiment with and the staff was very friendly, helpful and accomodating. I know they made otherwise involved transactions and events work smoothly for myself and other artists. I particularily appreciated their humor, patience and good naturedness, especially in the face of so many artists coming through the center.

The freedom to work in my own way and to make my own decisions about daily details was empowering and challenging at the same time. It allowed me to concentrate on my internal process and participate socially as well.

The luxurious simplicity of my time in Kecskemet will continue to unfold bit by bit and I treasure it as a rich creative experience.
