The
Project KNOWHOW integrates research that investigates the learner's
experience of creative, non-verbal learning, and teaching. As part
of the research involved, KNOWHOW brings together student and staff
artists from six different European art institutions - from Iceland,
Hungary, Estonia, and the United Kingdom - to take active part in
a two-week workshop held in the International Ceramic Studio, Keckemet,
Hungary.
The
workshop is organised as a forum for study and teaching while fulfilling
its role as a field for research into practical and theoretical
study/teaching in a workshop setting. The workshop will provide
a rare opportunity to gather data on the ways in which the practical
sharing of knowledge and experience actually occurs between a teacher
and a student; how professional inspiration is exchanged mutually
between teacher and student, within the student group, and among
teachers; and how theoretical and practical factors intertwine.
It can be said that this research is directed at the investigative
process that workshop study is or can be, that it is directed at
the creative spark that study/teaching can ignite.
