The
process of observation is well rehearsed. Initially his gaze is cool and somewhat
detached, reminding us that understanding is a slow and considered process.
It is only later, after many drawings, that the intellect of the brain and
the sensibility of the hand again become partners in the manipulation of clay
and the rendering of immutable form. The cycle is completed when the gaze
of reflection returns to the fired pieces and eventually to the critical world.
