Our organised program of symposium,
open days, lectures and demonstrations.
Each year we organise a major international ceramic symposium with acknowledged ceramic masters. The invited guest artists will be working on their own projects or in collaboration with the other residents. The invited masters present their working methods and discuss their ideas and philosophy during demonstrations, formal and informal seminars and public lectures.
NAOKO TAGAI
Naoko Tagai is a contemporary Japanese ceramic artist whose work is based on an exciting fusion of traditional Eastern formal language and experimental, conceptual approaches. In her works, she often explores the nature of the material, the relationship between form and space, and the delicate balance between humans and their environment. Her works have been featured in numerous international exhibitions and, through their sensitive, meditative approach, occupy a unique place in contemporary ceramic art.
In 2025, Naoko Tagai won the ICF x ICS Kecskemét Residency Award at the International Ceramics Festival in Wales. She is currently working as a resident artist at the Studio, where, in addition to the unique spirit of the place, state-of-the-art equipment, kilns, spacious studios, and high-level technical support facilitate her experimental, creative work. During the lecture, we will gain insight into the artist’s work, way of thinking, and tools of self-expression, as well as learn about the key milestones of her creative career.
Date of the lecture: May 7, 2026 (Thursday), 5 PM
English, with Hungarian interpretation.
3 - 28 August, 2026
